league rules

Use the lineup app to validate a lineup and ensure it adheres to all the rules below.

ROSTERS

• All players must be 18 years or older.
• Roster cap = 10 players.
• Roster may be updated until the start of Week 4.
  • After Week 4, roster changes are only permitted to replace an injured player.
  • After the end of regular season, roster changes are not allowed.
• Players cannot be on multiple rosters within the same division.
• At least 4 rostered players must be present or you forfeit the match.

Subs

Subs are only permitted during regular season. Subs are NOT allowed during playoffs.

• Subs must be current players in the league.
• Subs must be selected from the same division (Competitive or Intermediate).
• A sub may play only if:
  • Your team has < 6 players available, or
  • Your team has 6+ players but needs a female player to meet the gender requirement.

If any of these conditions are not met, subs are not permitted.

LIBERO

The libero must follow these rules (some of which are stricter than the standard FIVB rules):

• May only play in the back row.
• Must play in exactly two rotational positions.
• Must serve in exactly one rotational position.
• During each full team rotation cycle, the libero must be on the court for exactly six rotations.

Female Requirement

General Rule
At least 1 female must be on the court at all times.

Bench Rotation (6–10 Players)
This refers to the round robin rotation method typically used in casual/rec leagues, where all players rotate through the court and bench equally.

• If rotating 6–8 players: Minimum 2 females required in the rotation.
• If rotating 9–10 players: Minimum 3 females required in the rotation.
• Teams may rotate normally.
• Some rotations may have only 1 female on the court, which is allowed.
• You cannot have a rotation with no females on the court.

Substitutions
This refers to the standard rotation method used in organized volleyball.
Teams must have 2 females on the court at all times, with one exception.
If a female libero has already served for one middle hitter, she may leave the court while the second middle hitter is serving. During this specific situation:

• Having only 1 female on the court is allowed.
• Once your team loses serve, the libero must re-enter the court immediately.
• Having a machine middle is not allowed.

Scoring

• During regular season, all sets are straight to 25. No win by 2.
• During playoffs, sets are win by 2 until 27.
